He had 319 goals, 378 assists and a 241 plus-minus in 14 seasons with the Islanders and Sabres.

He led the NHL with 24 goals during the 1939-40 season, 26 goals during the 1940-41 season and 56 points during the 1941-42 season. A three-time first-team All-Star, Hextall won a Stanley Cup with the Rangers in 1940.
