With the benefit of hindsight, September 11th, 2001 signaled our entry into a never-ending Middle Eastern engagement/acid trip. With bipartisan pressure building in Congress and support growing in the country for action, President Barack Obama is expected to announce Wednesday night that he will authorize U.S. military airstrikes in Syria as part of a broader plan to “degrade and destroy” the Islamic State extremist group in the Middle East, the Associated Press reports. Obama also will stress the need to provide additional resources in the form of money, training and diplomatic support for those fighting the terrorist group responsible for murdering hundreds and beheading two American journalists.
