He won the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy in 1995 and was selected to five All-Star games.

He won four consecutive Stanley Cups with the Islanders from 1980-1983. Smith led the NHL with 32 wins in 1981-82 and he ranks 27th all-time in career wins.

A two-time first-team All-Star, Trottier won four consecutive championships with the Islanders from 1980-1983 and back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Penguins in 1991 and 1992. He won the Calder Memorial Trophy in 1976, the Art Ross Trophy and Hart Memorial Trophy in 1979, the Conn Smythe Trophy in 1980 and the King Clancy Memorial Trophy in 1989. He ranks 33rd all-time with 524 goals, 18th all-time with 901 assists and is 16th all-time in points.
