SPORT: Football TEAM: Giants POSITION: Defensive end INDUCTED: 1981 CAREER: 1927-1936 IN NY: 1927-1928 with the Yankees, 1930-1935 with the Giants, 1936 with the Dodgers Morris Hiram “Red” Badgro scored the first touchdown in an NFL championship game in 1933, led the league with 16 catches in 1934 and scored seven career touchdowns. He was known as a great defender. Badgro’s Giants won the 1934 NFL championship.

SPORT: Football TEAM: Jets POSITION: Coach INDUCTED: 1978 CAREER: 1954-1973 IN NY: 1963-1973 Wilbur Charles “Weeb” Ewbank was 130-129-7 in 20 seasons with the Jets and Baltimore Colts. He led the Colts to NFL championships in 1958 and 1959 and won Super Bowl III with the Jets. In 11 seasons with the Jets, Ewbank’s teams were 71-77-6, a .480 winning percentage.

SPORT: Football TEAM: Giants POSITION: Quarterback INDUCTED: 2005 CAREER: 1927-1934 IN NY: 1929-1931 with the Giants, 1932-1934 with the Dodgers Friedman rushed for 18 touchdowns in eight seasons with the Giants, Dodgers, Cleveland Bulldogs and Detroit Wolverines. A four-time first-team All-Pro selection, he threw for 66 touchdowns and helped revolutionize the passing game.

SPORT: Football TEAM: Giants POSITION: Halfback, wide receiver INDUCTED: 1977 (Sixth year as a finalist) CAREER: 1952-1964 IN NY: 1952-1964 Gifford rushed for 3,609 yards and 34 touchdowns and caught 367 passes for 5,434 yards and 43 touchdowns in 12 seasons with the Giants. An eight-time Pro Bowler, he attempted 63 passes, completed 29 and threw 14 touchdowns. In 1956, Gifford won an NFL title with the Giants and was named NFL MVP.

SPORT: Football TEAM: Giants POSITION: Center, linebacker INDUCTED: 1963 CAREER: 1931-1945 IN NY: 1931-1945 Hein had 10 interceptions and one defensive touchdown in 15 seasons with the Giants. A four-time Pro Bowler, he was a five-time first-team All-Pro and won the 1938 MVP. He won championships with the Giants in 1934 and 1938.

A five-time Pro Bowler, he also was a two-time first-team All-Pro and won a championship with the Giants in 1956.

SPORT: Football TEAM: Giants POSITION: Fullback INDUCTED: 1978 (Second year as a finalist) CAREER: 1936-1943 IN NY: 1936-1943 Alphonse Emil “Tuffy” Leemans rushed for 3,132 yards and 17 touchdowns and caught 28 passes for 422 yards and three touchdowns in eight seasons with the Giants. He led the league with 206 attempts, 830 yards and 69.2 yards per game in 1936. He completed 167 of 383 passes and tossed 25 touchdowns and 32 interceptions. A two-time Pro Bowler, Leemans won a championship with the Giants in 1938 and was a first-team All-Pro in 1939.
