Steven A. Pilewski

BACKGROUND

• Pilewski, 59, of Smithtown, is a registered Republican and is running on the Democratic, Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election.
• He has been an acting Supreme Court justice since 2022 after his election in 2021 to the bench.
• Pilewski was a principal law clerk to Kings County Supreme Court Acting Justice Guy J. Mangano, a position he had held since July 2000. As a principal law clerk, he drafted legal decisions, memorandum, court decisions, and jury charges, and did research.
• In 1995, he began his legal career as a court attorney in the Appellate Division in Brooklyn.
• Pilewski graduated from St. John's University in 1989, and from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 1994. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1995.
