BACKGROUND

- She is an attorney at Margot J. Garant Inc. in Port Jefferson, with a focus on real estate law, corporate law, banking, bankruptcy and debt, and trusts and estate planning.
- Garant was the mayor of the Village of Port Jefferson for 14 years, retiring after completing her seventh and final two-year term in 2023.
- She suspended her campaign as the Democratic candidate for Brookhaven Town supervisor in July 2023 because of health issues after having a stroke the month prior.
