Edmund Dane is running for New York State Supreme Court Justice
Dane, 59, of Woodbury, is running on the Democratic and Republican party lines. He was elected to Nassau County Family Court and took office in 2008. Dane serves as the supervising judge of the Nassau County Family Court, as well as an acting Supreme Court justice. In 2007, Dane was appointed a judge to the Nassau County District Court by former Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi. He was a managing partner at Dane & Dane Esqs. in Forest Hills from 1983 to 2006. Dane earned a bachelor’s from Queens College in 1978 and earned a law degree from Brooklyn Law School in 1981. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1982. He also was admitted into the U.S. Supreme Court in 1985, U.S. Tax Court in 1985, NYS, Appellate Division, Second Department in 1982 and the U.S. District Courts, Eastern and Southern Districts in 1982. He is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association, Nassau County Women’s Bar Association and the Nassau County Bar Association Matrimonial and Family Law committees. Dane is a special professor of law at Hofstra Law School and lecturer for the New York State Bar Association and Nassau Academy of Law.
