Cathryn Harris-Marchesi is running for Council Member, City of Glen Cove
BACKGROUND
- Harris-Marchesi, 54, of Glen Cove, is a registered Democrat and is running on the Democratic Party line in the general election. This is her first bid for public office.
- She has a bachelor’s degree from SOAS University of London and a law degree from Northeastern University in Boston. She works for a Manhattan law firm as a mediator and attorney in federal and constitutional law.

Harris-Marchesi served on the Nassau County Rent Guidelines Board for 20 years and is a United Nations delegate for women’s issues. She is a volunteer driver for the Nosh food pantry in Glen Cove.
ISSUES
- Harris-Marchesi said she will seek to make Glen Cove affordable for local residents by bringing in new “regenerating/permanent” streams of income that are not based on taxes, fees or grants. She said the revenue would support programs that are used by people in all income brackets, including adult day care, Meals on Wheels and food banks.
- She said she will prioritize repair and maintenance of public garages and other infrastructure through public-private partnerships.
- Harris-Marchesi said she will ensure that all Glen Cove residents have equal access to public services and city-issued permits, and “remove favoritism” from “access to services for neighborhoods, individuals and businesses alike.”
