Carla Anastasio is running for Council Member, City of Glen Cove
BACKGROUND
- Anastasio, 45, of Glen Cove, is not enrolled in a party and is running on the Democratic Party line in the general election. This is her first bid for public office.
- She has a master’s degree in nutrition and public health from Columbia University. She has worked for 15 years as a public health professional for government and nonprofit organizations, focusing on community nutrition and hunger.
- Anastasio volunteers for and is a member of the Parent Council at Glen Cove’s Nosh food pantry. She is serving her second year as co-president of K.A. Deasy Elementary School PTA in Glen Cove.
ISSUES
- Anastasio said “developers must be good corporate citizens” and that future development proposals for the city “must be evaluated for their long-term impact on quality of life, municipal resources, potential employment opportunities and ability to generate revenue.”
- She said she will focus on the impact of the rising cost of living and prioritize “increasing employment opportunities, partnerships with our school district, career training and new streams of revenue to offset rising costs.”
- Anastasio said she will support efforts to revitalize the downtown area and its “public appeal” through innovative public-private partnerships.
