BACKGROUND:
- Hackeling, 66, of Lloyd Harbor, is running on the Democratic, Republican, and Conservative party lines in the general election.
- He has been a Suffolk County District Court judge since 2002 and served as acting county court judge assigned to Supreme Court Part from 2017 to 2020.
- From 1993-2000, he was a Suffolk County legislator, serving as presiding officer in 1998 and 1999.
- Hackeling was a member of the Huntington Town Board from 1990 to 1993.
- He was in private practice with Macco, Hackeling and Stern LLP in Huntington from 1984 to 2002. He graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1978 and earned his law degree from Albany Law School in 1981.
- He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1981 and the Florida bar in 1982. Hackeling has been a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association since 1985.
