BACKGROUND:

• Micieli-Martinez, 44, of Riverhead, is a winemaker and projects manager of Premium Wine Group in Mattituck. He is also running on the Working Families Party line.

• He is a member of the Riverhead Downtown Revitalization Committee, which advises the town board on issues related to the revitalization of the town’s business center. He also sits on the Riverhead Anti-Litter Advisory Committee.

• Micieli-Martinez earned a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Binghamton in 1999.

ISSUES:

• Micieli-Martinez is concerned that the construction of mixed-used buildings — four to five stories tall in the business district — may negatively impact the town’s infrastructure and lead to school overcrowding.

• He opposes the pending $40 million land sale of Enterprise Park at Calverton to venture group Calverton Aviation and Technology, saying he is concerned whether the group is financially capable of carrying out its plans to develop the Calverton property.

• Micieli-Martinez says he would expand the size of the Riverhead Police Department. Micieli-Martinez says additional police officers would ensure that residents and visitors feel safe.
