BACKGROUND:
- Williams, 49, of Cutchogue, is making his first run for a seat on the Town Board. He is also running on the Conservative line.
- He has been a Southold Town trustee for four years.
- He manages a bicycle sales and repair shop in Mattituck.
ISSUES:
- Williams said, "We need to make sure we maintain a vibrant business community, that stores stay in the hamlet areas and that we maintain the scenic vistas people come out here to see, that we preserve farmland and make sure it doesn't become developed."
- He said it's important to upgrade septic systems and mitigate the amount of runoff into the Peconic estuary to maintain water quality. "We need to be cautious moving forward, follow best practices as they evolve, relocate septic systems away from the seaward side of properties and move to I/A on-site wastewater recycling systems."
- Williams said he would network within the community to build support for policies that maintains the area's quality of life.
