BACKGROUND:
- McKay, 58, of Dix Hills, is seeking his first term as a council member for the Town of Huntington. He also is endorsed by the Working Families Party.
- He is a former newspaper reporter and has worked as public information officer and director of parks for the Town of Huntington, and as deputy commissioner of parks for Suffolk County.
- He graduated from Bethany College in West Virginia.
ISSUES:
- McKay said his top priorities are ensuring checks and balances on the town board, expanding affordable housing, protecting groundwater, bays and harbors, and doing more with less.
- He vows to advocate for sensible and rational development.
- He said he supports restoring common sense, caring and respect to local governance.
