William L. Murphy

BACKGROUND

• Murphy, 41, of Farmingdale, is running on the Democratic Party line in the general election. He is a faculty member in St. John’s University’s Division of Legal Studies.
• He graduated from New York University in 2005 with a degree in journalism and earned a law degree from the Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law School in 2011. 
• Murphy began his legal career representing both employees and employers in labor and employment litigation.

ISSUES

• Murphy said he is focused on increasing affordability for child care, health care and senior care.
• He supports the Nassau County Police Department. “I will never vote against law enforcement,” Murphy said.
• Murphy said he would prioritize continued funding for local public schools.
