BACKGROUND:
- Jha, 70, of Port Washington, is also running on the Conservative line. He is the strategic advisor at the Seattle-based Human Potential Project.
- He immigrated to the United States from India in 1991 in “a leadership role with American Express Bank, to build and develop Indo-U.S. business relationships.”
- Jha earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from the University of Pune in India, and a master of business administration from the International Management Institute in Delhi, India.
ISSUES:
- Jha said that as an immigrant to the United States he is focused on “preserving the American Dream for families who call Long Island home.”
- He said that he will use his experience as a business and finance professional to help “fix what's wrong in Albany.”
- Jha said that if elected he will work to reverse New York State’s “cashless bail laws,” which he said “have freed killers, drug dealers and gang members, to the utter disregard of the law-abiding citizens.”
- He said that he would advocate for tax relief for Long Islanders by pushing to make the gas tax rollback permanent and repealing New York City congestion pricing.
