BACKGROUND:

Posterli, 57, of Long Beach, was elected to the city council in 2021 and is seeking a second term.
She is managing director of communications for the Washington, D.C.-based National Skills Coalition.
She served on the Long Beach Public Schools Board of Education from 2018 to 2021, the last year as president, and was also a member of the school district’s equity, policy and wellness committees.

ISSUES:

Posterli said she “engaged residents and departments in a budgeting process that resulted in a 0% operational tax increase for 2023-2024.” She said the actual tax hike, 9.97%, is the result of a $5.5 million settlement the city must pay developer Sinclair Haberman.
She said she has focused “on investments in infrastructure, combined with the newly enacted comprehensive plan, to lay the groundwork for the future of Long Beach as a resilient, cultural arts and transit-oriented city where all our residents and businesses can thrive.”
