BACKGROUND
- Besen, 60, of East Northport, is running on the Democratic and Conservative party lines in the general election.
- He has been a partner at Milber, Makris, Plousadis and Seiden LLP since 2017. Prior to that, he had a private practice with a focus on civil litigation for 22 years in Garden City and Huntington.
- He has been village attorney for the Village of Port Washington North since 2010 and was Northport village attorney from 2014 to 2022.
- Besen was assistant town attorney for Huntington from 1998 to 2005 and was a Huntington Town councilman from 2006 to 2009. From 2010 to 2012, he was appointed as special assistant town attorney for Huntington.
- Besen received his undergraduate degree from Southern Connecticut State University in 1987. He earned his law degree from New York Law School in 1990. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1991 and is admitted in the United States District Court for both the Southern (1994) and Eastern districts (1993).
