BACKGROUND:
- Troiano, 68, of Westbury, is the board president of Westbury schools and director of special projects at the Nassau County Board of Elections. He’s also running on the Working Families Party line.
- Troiano began his three-decade-long political career as a Westbury school board member in 1991. He later served as a North Hempstead Town councilman and a Nassau County legislator. He also worked as the town’s director of operations and was Supervisor Judi Bosworth’s senior policy adviser.
- He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from Brown University and an MBA from Stanford University.
ISSUES:
- Troiano said he will further efforts to rein in particulate matter emissions from several sand mining and rock crushing operations in the New Cassel industrial area that abut residential neighborhoods.
- He said he will work to make the town’s building department more user-friendly to businesses and homeowners.
- He wants to focus on revitalizing North Hempstead Beach Park. "It's an attractive property that could become a destination for North Hempstead residents for entertainment and … recreation," he said.
