Philip Goglas is running for Suffolk County Court Judge
BACKGROUND
- Goglas, 64, of Central Islip, is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election.
- Since 2015, he has been a judge in Suffolk County Court and an acting judge in Suffolk County Family Court, as well as an acting justice in the Supreme Court, 10th Judicial District. He was a Suffolk County District Court judge from 2011 to 2014.
- Goglas was assistant town attorney for the Town of Smithtown from 2003 to 2010, special prosecutor for the village of Islandia from 2005 to 2010 and special prosecutor for the village of Lake Grove from 2006 to 2010.
- From 1994 to 2002, Goglas was a Family Court hearing examiner dealing with child support cases. He was an assistant Suffolk County attorney from 1991 to 1994.
- He was a New York City transit police officer from 1981 to 1991.
- He received his bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University in 1982 and earned his law degree from Brooklyn Law School in 1987. Goglas was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1988.
