BACKGROUND:
- Nicks, 30, of Uniondale, is seeking her first term as town supervisor. She ran for town clerk in 2021.

- She has a bachelor’s in business operations from CUNY Baruch and an MBA with a specialty in consulting from American University.
ISSUES:
- Nicks said she would work to address what she described as an acute housing shortage, creating a task force to evaluate opportunities for new housing in neighborhoods across the town.
- She said some town departments should be reconfigured, citing resident complaints about building department permit requirements and difficulty getting code enforcement to respond to requests for service.
- Town government should ease the property tax burden on homeowners by encouraging small-business development and aggressively seeking federal grants, she said.
