BACKGROUND:
- Clavin, 54, of Garden City, is seeking a third term as town supervisor.
- He won his first term in 2019 after serving as Hempstead’s receiver of taxes for 18 years.
- He graduated from Canisius University and Hofstra School of Law.
ISSUES:
- Clavin said he is committed to maintaining taxes to give residents financial relief.
- He is opposed to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s statewide housing plan and said he wants to preserve the suburban character of Hempstead communities.
- He wants to continue to work to minimize crime, building on enhanced public safety patrol in Hempstead parks, beaches and facilities.
