Michael Hansen

Michael Hansen is running for Town Clerk, Town of East Hampton

Michael Hansen

BACKGROUND

  • Hansen, 59, of Wainscott, is a registered Democrat and is running on the Democratic and Working Families party lines in the general election.
  • He has run his technology consultant business in the Town of East Hampton for more than 10 years.
  • Hansen has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Miami and a master’s degree in early childhood education from the Bank Street College of Education in Manhattan, where he was also the website administrator.

ISSUES

  • Hansen said he wants to expand payment options at the town clerk’s office to include credit cards and online payments as choices for more permits and licenses, as opposed to just checks and cash.
  • He said he wants to “create an entirely new system” for the town clerk that allows residents to log in to an account and update or register some permits and passes.
  • Hansen said he would advocate for construction of a new building for the clerk on the Town Hall campus that is “fireproof” and “secure” and would allow the historical and digital files to be moved, to free up space in Town Hall.
