Jeffrey A. Miller
Jeffrey A. Miller is running for Town Clerk, Town of East Hampton
BACKGROUND
- Miller, 55, of Springs, is not enrolled in a party and is running on the Republican Party line in the general election.
- He was a heavy-equipment operator for the East Hampton Village Department of Public Works for 36 years. He was a volunteer firefighter for more than three decades, part of the time as a chief of the Springs Fire Department.
- Miller was a member of the Springs Union Free School District Board of Education from 2013 to 2016.
ISSUES
- Miller said he is “running on his heritage” as a 13th-generation Bonacker — a term used to describe the working-class families and locals of Springs, but also East Hampton as a whole — and believes the town clerk should be “someone who knows the town and the people that make it up.”
- He said he wants more permits to be accessible online, and for town records to be digitized.
- Miller described himself as a “people person” and said he does not want residents to “dread” coming to the clerk’s office, which he said was “the pulse of the Town Hall.”
