Hughes, 47, of Huntington, is running on the Republican, Conservative, Independence, Green and Reform party lines in the general election. He has been principal law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Joseph C. Pastoressa since 2005. He was an associate at the law firm Rivkin Radler LLP from 2002 to 2005, and assistant town attorney/special assistant district attorney for the Town of Huntington from 1999 to 2002. He was staff attorney, Family Court Bureau, Suffolk County Legal Aid Society, from 1996 to 1999. He received his undergraduate degree from Stonehill College in 1991, and his law degree from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 1996. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1997. He has been a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association since 1997.
