Harkin, 52, of Baiting Hollow, is running on the Republican, Conservative and Reform party lines. He has been the principal law clerk for State Supreme Court Justice David T. Reilly since 2014. Harkin worked as law clerk for the New York State attorney general's office and has been a principal law clerk for the State Court of Claims. He was an associate with the law firm of Lerner & Phin, Esqs., from 1992 to 1993 and served as an assistant district attorney for the Suffolk County district attorney's office in the Major Crime Bureau (1992), Case Advisory Bureau (1990-1991) and the District Court Bureau (1988-1989). He received a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Binghamton University in 1985 and in 1988 he received his juris doctor degree from Hofstra Law School. He was admitted to the bar in 1989 and the New York State Appellate Division, Second Department. Harkin is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association and the Matrimonial Bar Association.
