BACKGROUND

  • Sartain, 56, of Westhampton Beach, is running on the Democratic and Conservative party lines in the general election.
  • She was appointed town justice in January 2020 and elected to the position in November 2020. Sartain is also a criminal defense attorney who has been in private practice since 2018.
  • She is also a sitting judge for the East End Regional Intervention Court (Drug Court) and is a mediator for Surrogate’s Court of Suffolk County.
  • Sartain was a staff attorney with the Legal Aid Society of Suffolk County from 2016 to 2018, and an assistant public defender in the Miami Public Defender’s office from 1993 to 1999.
  • She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990 and earned her law degree in 1993 from the University of Miami. She was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2013, the Florida Bar in 1993 and New York’s Eastern and Southern Districts and Florida’s Southern and Middle Districts in 2016.
