BACKGROUND

  • Chin, 53, of Roslyn, works at North Shore University Hospital as a program manager for community outreach and volunteer services. She is a registered Democrat and is running on the Democratic Party line. 
  • She previously served as North Hempstead Deputy Town Clerk and worked in the Town of North Hempstead's Community Services and Services for the Aging. 
  • Chin serves as a leader on the board of directors for the Asian American Institute of Research and Engagement, where she works to expand civic participation and amplify voices in the Asian American community. She also is president of the Herricks School Board of Education and has been a trustee since 2013.

ISSUES

  • Chin said keeping families safe is a top priority and she will push to increase police staffing and strengthen community-based crime prevention. She said she’ll also address speeding, with smarter enforcement and safer street design so that every resident feels secure in their neighborhood.
  • Fiscal transparency and affordability are other concerns for Chin, who said she will fight to ensure taxpayer money is invested in public safety, upgraded infrastructure and the essential programs that keep communities strong and affordable.
  • Chin said she wants thriving neighborhoods, where there are clean streets, well-maintained roads, vibrant parks and tree-lined blocks. She said she will invest in communities, programs and people, from youth to seniors and veterans.
