BACKGROUND: Barreiros, 49, of West Babylon, is running on the Republican line. A lifelong resident of Babylon Town, she is a graduate of West Babylon Senior High School. For the past two and a half years Barreiros has worked in the purchasing department of the Suffolk County Board of Elections. Prior to that, she worked for 14 years as a paralegal at a Levittown law firm. She also owned a nail and tanning salon in West Babylon for seven years. She is married with a daughter.

ISSUES: Barreiros said she is making her first run for office because she wants to bring Republican representation to the town board, which is majority Democrat. �I believe in a two-party system and the Republican voice needs to be heard in town government,� she said. Barreiros vowed to listen to everyone�s views and work to keep the town safe and affordable for taxpayers.
