Dennis F. McDermott is running for Nassau County District Court Judge - 2nd District
McDermott, 60, of Hempstead is running on the Republican, Conservative, Independence and Tax Revolt party lines. He is the municipal transactions deputy bureau chief in the Nassau County attorney’s office and serves as counsel to the Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums. He joined the office in November 2013. Previously, from September 2012 to November 2013, he was assistant to the commissioner of the Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums. He was in private practice from 1983 to 2013, handling contractual, landlord/tenant and real estate matters. He received his bachelor’s degree from Ramapo College of New Jersey in 1978 and his law degree from St. John’s University School of Law in 1982. He was admitted to both the New Jersey and New York state bars in 1983. He is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association.
