BACKGROUND

• Bennardo, 58, of East Northport, is running on the Republican Party line for Huntington Town Council in the primary election as the incumbent.

• Bennardo is seeking a second term after being elected in 2021.

• Bennardo is the former superintendent of the South Huntington school district and currently serves as the director of public school partnerships at St. John’s University.

ISSUES

• Bennardo said he wants to continue providing public services for residents without raising taxes.

• He said he believes in the town maintaining strong relationships with schools, religious institutions, businesses and other organizations.
