DAVID C. FRANKLIN
Republican
BACKGROUND:
- Franklin, 66, of Port Washington, is the deputy commissioner for Nassau County Parks, Recreation and Museums.
- He previously worked as the operations supervisor for Home Box Office in Hauppauge, and served as an IBEW shop steward.
- He was an elected commissioner of the Port Washington Police Department from 2011 to 2019.
ISSUES:
- Franklin said he is “a moderate” who would cross party lines “if necessary to get things done. I don’t care whose idea it is. If it works for the people, we have to run with it.”
- He said that if elected, he would prioritize reviewing town budgets “to see where the money is going, ensure it’s being spent properly and get rid of unnecessary spending, including for staffing.”
- He said Port Washington should be advertised as “a destination” on the Long Island Rail Road, to attract more ticket buyers to the Landmark on Main Street performing arts center and “to generate more foot traffic on Main Street.”
