BACKGROUND:
- McNamara, 45, of East Quogue, was elected as a Southampton Town councilwoman in 2021.
- She owns a landscaping company with her husband, Dan, and served on the East Quogue School District Board of Education from 2014 until 2017.
- As a member of the East Quogue Citizen Advisory Committee, she advocated to extend public water mains in East Quogue after perfluorinated compounds were detected in private wells.
ISSUES:
- McNamara said she proposes to bring town government “back to basics” by focusing on increasing services for residents, improving infrastructure and supporting the police department.
- She said housing and traffic remain two key issues. “It’s about solving these issues, but keeping the regional or the local character intact,” she said.
- She said state lawmakers increasingly are trying to get into local decision making, such as housing zoning, and that she would “push back on that.”
