Garbarino said that in his first two terms, he has worked on increasing school funding. “We’ve increased school aid enough that the Savyille schools are cutting taxes for the first time in many years,” he said. He also has worked on getting funding for sewer and engineering studies for the Southwest Sewer District, which serves the eastern part of the district. He has also increased funding for dealing with the heroin epidemic. “We need to do more so I want to go back and fight for more funding,” he said.
Garbarino, 32, of Bayport, is running on the Republican, Conservative, Independence and Reform party lines. He is seeking his third term as state assemblyman. He grew up in Sayville and received a bachelor’s degree from George Washington University. He received his law degree from Hofstra University in 2009. He’s a lawyer in private practice, and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Sayville Rotary. He was first elected in 2012.
