BACKGROUND
- Phoenix, 65, of North Baldwin, is running on the Democratic, Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election.
- She was elected a 2nd District Court judge in 2006 and was reelected in 2012 and 2018.
- Phoenix is the presiding judge of the Nassau County Mental Health Court and the Drug Treatment Court, and an Acting Nassau County Court Judge.
- Before her election in 2006, she was in private practice. From 1993 to 1999, she was a staff attorney with Nassau/Suffolk Law Services Committee Inc., a nonprofit program that provides legal assistance.

Phoenix earned an undergraduate degree from Hampton University in Virginia and a graduate degree from the Ohio State University. She received her law degree from Hofstra University School of Law in 1989. Phoenix was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1992.
