BACKGROUND

  • Johnson, 57, of Long Beach, is a registered Republican and is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election. This is her first bid for public office.
  • She is a Realtor with Coldwell Banker American Homes and owns the Cabana Mexican American Restaurant, both in Long Beach.
  • She is the fourth generation of her family to grow up in Long Beach and is a graduate of St. Agnes High School, currently Kellenberg Memorial High School, in Uniondale. She volunteers for several local nonprofits, including The Michael Diamond Charitable Foundation.

ISSUES

  • Johnson said she is “very strongly opposed” to overdevelopment in Long Beach. She said she will “hold the line on taxes to keep Long Beach affordable for its residents and future generations.”
  • “Quality of life is important to me, which means keeping crime down and maintaining our city beaches and infrastructure,” Johnson said.
  • She said she will support the local workforce and city services, pledging to “stand behind all of the workers in the CSEA union that do such a fantastic job. Without them our city wouldn’t be able to run efficiently.”
