BACKGROUND
- McCarthy, 70, of Smithtown, is a registered Republican and is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election. He is seeking a second term. McCarthy said he wants to prioritize the needs of veterans in Smithtown by working with other veterans’ resource committees across town and Suffolk County, and to continue an initiative he pushed for in his first term that digitized town records through the town’s digital program.
