BACKGROUND: Scully, 41, of Setauket, is running on the Republican, Green and Reform party lines in the general election. She has had a private practice in Port Jefferson since 2008 in which she handles elder law, trusts, estates, guardianship proceedings and criminal defense. She worked for the Legal Aid Society in the District Court Bureau from 2005 to 2008. Scully was an assistant Brookhaven Town attorney from April 2013 to August 2014 and taught business law as an adjunct professor at Suffolk County Community College from 2014 to 2017. She graduated from SUNY at Albany in 1999 and earned her law degree from Albany Law School in 2004. She was admitted to the New York State Bar in September 2005 and the Washington, D.C., bar in 2006. Her professional affiliations include the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York, where she served as public relations chairwoman from 2014 to 2015. Scully is a past president of the Suffolk County Women's Bar Association. She also belongs to the New York State Bar Association, the Suffolk County Bar Association, the Nassau County Women's Bar Association and Suffolk Defenders.
