BACKGROUND:
- Walter, 57, of Wading River, is a registered Conservative Party member who also has the Republican and Conservative ballot lines.
- He has been Town Justice in Riverhead since 2020 and maintains a private practice in Wading River.
- Walter said he enjoys the post, and isn’t ready to retire. “It’s a way to give back to the community,” he said. “You’re seeing them at perhaps their worst moment. The way you treat those people is a direct reflection on the town.”
- Before that, Walter was town supervisor from 2010 to 2017 and deputy Riverhead Town attorney from 2000 to 2006.
- Walter received a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1988 and a law degree from St. John’s Law School in 1999.
- He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2000.
