BACKGROUND
- Formica, 60, of Commack, is a registered Republican and is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election.
- He is a retired detective who worked with the NYPD’s Emergency Services Unit and is a former chief of the Commack Fire Department. He is also a restaurateur.
- Formica has served for more than a decade on the Commack South Little League Board.
 
ISSUES
- Formica said public safety and crime reduction are top priorities.
- Improvements to infrastructure and housing development are also on his agenda.
- He said he will focus on environmental health, air and water quality that impact the quality of life for Suffolk County families.
