BACKGROUND
- Formica, 59, of Commack, spent a career in law enforcement and was a detective on the NYPD's emergency service unit and is an ex-chief of the Commack Fire Department.
- He opened Sal's Ristorante in Smithtown over a decade ago.
- He has served as president of the Commack South Little League.
 
ISSUES
- Formica said a top priority is to help make Suffolk County "safer" and "more prosperous" by supporting mental health initiatives and through fiscal responsibility.
- He said expanding on infrastructure with sewer projects is another priority.
