BACKGROUND

Semprini, 64, of Commack, is competing in the Republican primary for a seat on the Smithtown Town Board.

He is a longtime pilot for American Airlines.

Semprini is also president of the Commack Community Association.
 
ISSUES
- Semprini opposes overdevelopment and has been a vocal opponent of a previous project proposal to bring a rail yard to Kings Park.
- If elected, Semprini said, he wants to advocate for more funding going toward Commack for items such as road improvements.
- Semprini said he also wants to sit down with Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine and other stakeholders about finding a solution to waste disposal issues.
