BACKGROUND:
- Sanin, 45, of Huntington Station, is CEO of the Health and Welfare Council of Long Island, a network of nonprofit agencies.
- Sanin, who unsuccessfully ran for Huntington Town supervisor in 2021, became the Democratic nominee in the 16th Legislative District race after the party’s previous candidate was ruled ineligible.
- She is a former assistant deputy county executive in the administration of Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone.
ISSUES:
- Sanin said that if elected she will advocate for “clean, safe drinking water and protecting our bays and waterways from dangerous pollution.”
- She said she supports “increasing access to mental health services and addiction treatment programs, and developing robust safety strategies that prevent gun violence.”
- She said she would work to make the county more affordable by “cutting waste and pushing for greater efficiency and accountability.”
