Conroy said he would protect workers and help create good paying jobs with benefits. “I would work to fight unscrupulous contractors paying cash or 1099 forms to their workers,” he said in a biographical profile on the Suffolk County Democratic Committee’s website. “This practice is robbing NYS of more than 4 billion dollars a year in taxes.”
Conroy, 57, of Manorville, is running on the Democrat Party line. He is a 20-year member and former vice chairman of the Suffolk County Democratic Committee. He is a current member of the New York State Democratic Committee. Conroy has been a construction worker and a labor representative. He is a 37-year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, where he spent 14 years as an executive board member. He is married with two daughters.
