Mark A. Bernardo
Mark A. Bernardo is running for Town Clerk, Town of Southampton - Working Families
BACKGROUND
- Bernardo, 70, of Westhampton Beach, is a registered Democrat running on the Working Families Party line in the primary election. He is a retired visual effects artist and a graphic designer who worked for television networks such as ABC and NBC.
- He is a member of the Westhampton Beach Rotary Club and a volunteer at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center.
- Bernardo said he earned a bachelor’s degree in “History and History Education” from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
ISSUES
- Bernardo said his top issues are environmental conservation and sustainability, as well as livability and housing affordability on the eastern end of Long Island.
- He said that if elected, he would be an “advocate” for sustainability by recommending and providing information about green systems for homeowners, such as nitrogen-reducing septic systems and solar roof tiles — both of which he said are installed at his home.
- Bernardo said housing affordability is important to create “the opportunity for young people to stay in the community and not have to move away.”
