BACKGROUND:

  • Jimenez, 58, Medford, is making her first run for an elective office.
  • She also is running on the Democratic line.
  • She is a branch manager at Suffolk Regional Off-Track Betting, where she has worked for 42 years, having previously held positions there including cashier and manager of Human Resources. Jimenez is also certified with Underground Railroad, an organization geared towards bringing awareness to and preventing human trafficking.
  • She graduated from Patchogue-Medford High School.

ISSUES:

  • In the wake of the recent cyber intrusion into Suffolk County government offices, one priority for Jimenez will be to improve IT security for the office such as continuously monitoring records by doing more audits.
  • Jimenez said she would also like to set up more satellite offices one day a month in other towns for the office in order to improve convenience for veterans and elderly or disabled residents.
  • She would also like to work with staff on developing quicker ways to distribute documents to residents.
