BACKGROUND:
- Valdez, 61, of Huntington, is a first-time candidate for Huntington Town Clerk.
- She works as a court services coordinator/youth engagement coordinator supervising a team of pretrial professionals who are responsible for interviewing people arrested in the borough of Queens. For the past 18 years she has worked within the court systems in Suffolk, Nassau, Brooklyn and Queens.
- She graduated cum laude from Adelphi University, with a degree in sociology.
ISSUES:
- Valdez said she supports the basic human values of faith, family and community. She believes that we all have a responsibility to serve the greater good of humanity with dignity, respect and grace.
- Her top concerns are making sure that Huntington remains a place where working families, regardless of race, ethnicity or income, will be able to afford quality housing, enjoy safe drinking water, maintain high-performing schools for their children, and be proud to call home.
- She looks forward to increasing awareness of Huntington’s rich and varied history, preserving and showcasing the esteemed historical archives, and helping to establish a safe and accessible town hub.
