Judy A. Griffin
Judy A. Griffin is running for New York State Assembly - 21st District
JUDY A. GRIFFIN
DEMOCRAT
BACKGROUND:
- Griffin, 59, of Rockville Centre, seeks a third term. She had worked as the senior adviser and director of community outreach for State Sen. Todd Kaminsky (D-Long Beach).
- She got her bachelor of science degree in business economics from SUNY Oneonta.
- She was appointed by the Assembly speaker this summer to the legislature’s Commission on the Future of the Long Island Power Authority.
ISSUES:
- As a supporter of universal prekindergarten, she would fight for further funding increases so such classes can be available statewide to any 4-year-old.
- She wants to build “crime victim and trauma survivor recovery centers” across the state to provide therapy and other services, starting with a $10 million pilot program.
- She would work to pass her “Death by Dealer” bill, which would make it easier to charge drug dealers with homicide when users die of overdose.
- She touts her efforts to push through fixes to some unintended consequences of bail reform, including eliminating a complicated evidence process for traffic violation cases.
