BACKGROUND:

  • Girardi, 64, of Syosset, is running on the Democratic, Republican, and Conservative party lines in the general election.
  • He has been a judge in the Nassau County District Court, 4th district, since January 2015.
  • From 1988 to January 2015, he was a criminal defense attorney in private practice.
  • He was an assistant district attorney in Queens from 1984 to 1988.
  • Girardi received his undergraduate degree in 1981 from SUNY Oneonta, where he majored in both political science and American history. He earned his law degree in 1984 from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was a member of the Criminal Justice Clinic.
  • He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1985, as well as both the Eastern and Southern District federal courts of New York.
