Girardi, 56, of Syosset, is running on the Republican, Conservative and Independence, Tax Revolt and Reform party lines in the general election. He was appointed as a judge in the Nassau County District Court in January 2015. From 1988 to January 2015, he was a criminal defense attorney in private practice. Before that he was an assistant district attorney in Queens from 1984 to 1988. He received his undergraduate degree from SUNY-Oneonta in 1981, where he majored in both political science and American history. He received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1984, where he was a member of the Criminal Justice Clinic. He was admitted to the New York State bar in 1985, and that same year was admitted to both the Eastern and Southern District Federal Courts of New York. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Nassau and Queens County Bar Associations.
