JOHN R. ALBERTS

DEMOCRATIC

BACKGROUND:

  • Alberts, 39, of West Babylon, is running for State Senate for the third time, with previous runs in 2014 and 2016.
  • He also ran for the Suffolk County Legislature in 2007.
  • He has worked for 17 years for the Suffolk County Board of Elections and since 2021 has been assistant commissioner.
  • He has a bachelor's degree in business administration from The College of Saint Rose.

ISSUES:

  • Alberts said he would ensure that Long Island gets its fair share of federal infrastructure money because “we cannot just keep patching the problems” and “roads need to be overhauled completely.”
  • Alberts also supports the Environmental Bond Act, saying it will create numerous jobs from clean energy projects, making it “ideal for our economy” on Long Island.
  • He also would support giving businesses additional tax credits for hiring individuals who are in OASIS approved sobriety programs, incentives that will “ensure they get back to work, not only helping themselves but also the economy.”
