BACKGROUND:
- DeSena, 54, of Manhasset, won her first term in 2021 after previously working as an attorney in private practice and serving as executive director of the nonprofit Manhasset Community Coalition Against Substance Abuse.

- She earned her bachelor’s from Boston College and a law degree St. John’s University Law School.
ISSUES:
- DeSena said one of her priorities is to keep taxes low for residents. She said surpluses in the town’s finances could help give residents property tax relief.
- She said the town must continue working with the local police and stakeholders to address local crime, such as the rise in catalytic converter thefts. She said she has worked with community leaders to bring license plate readers to some municipalities, while also supporting a townwide school bus camera program.
- Her top priorities include keeping government accountable, improving critical infrastructure and quality of life, and fighting against antisemitism. She added that speaking out against proposals that would eliminate single-family-home neighborhoods is vital.
