James P. White is running for Huntington town council member - Green

James P. White

White said that the environment and town budget were among the issues most important to him. White contends virtually all decisions by the town board touch on those two issues, and that, if elected, he would be an advocate fighting for the Earth and a budget that prioritizes “shared community spaces.” “We have a precious little bit of Earth here in Huntington,” he said. “Rather than building upon and commercializing every last inch, I’d love our board to focus on preserving and improving the resources that we are so lucky to have already.”

White, 46, of Greenlawn, is running in a Green Party primary for Huntington Town Council. White is a coder who runs a website that helps small vintage guitar shops sell equipment to a larger, online customer base. He graduated from Boston University in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in English. White has no prior political experience. “I’ve never raised funds from others, argued professionally, or expended energy on self-promotion,” he said. “I am, though, quite adept at finding solutions in concert with others.”
